The focus of this meeting was practice and policy in Derby City and Derbyshire. We were joined by Tracy Litchfield and the two Trainee Health Trainers from Amber Trust - Anna Harvey and Kara Millhouse. They delivered a presentation about the Health Trainer Service - a great example of a project that is putting social prescribing policy into practice. We then heard from Caron Kirkham of Derbyshire Mind about the expanding Enjoying Derby programme. Following a short break where we enjoyed home made cakes, we welcomed Matthew Allbones from Community Action Derby to take centre stage where he talked to members about the action plan for the voluntary sector in Derby. Overall it was a very enjoyable meeting in a great new venue. We look forward to holding our AGM at YMCA Derbyshire in July. The first Joint Countywide Forum Meeting was held on 30th March 2010 at the Coney Green Business Centre in Clay Cross. At this meeting, we met with David Gardner and Georgina Horobin - Derbyshire County PCT Commissioners for Mental Health. Funding priorities were discussed and Georgina provided information about the Contingency and Developments Funds and how these can be accessed by members. We were also joined by Sharon Lovell who talked to members about about Suicide Awareness Training and how she plans to roll it out to the voluntary sector in the coming months. Please read the document, take the time to circulate it amongst service users, staff and volunteers, and DO respond directly to the consultation. The second part of the meeting was led by Jane Hudson-Oldroyd from Derbyshire County PCT who talked to members about Social Prescribing Click here to see Jane's presentation. Jane and her colleague Richard Mullings from NHS Derby City then led workshops during which our members offered information on areas of work they deliver which could be part of a social prescription.
